The RV Rev Up Continues! Window Valences...

Anyone who has bought an "older" RV knows all about the window valences.  They are usually pretty horrible to match the pretty horrible décor of the RV.  See mine...

So we have our next project!  Valence update!

What you will need:
1. Staple gun
2. Flat head & Philips head screw driver
3. Material (a few yards should do)

First thing, you need to remove the valences.  Do not be afraid!  Just look underneath and on the sides and you will most likely see "L" brackets.  Just unscrew the one connected to the valence.  Leave the one connected to the wall.  (I did.)  There should be 3 pieces; (2 sides and 1 top).  Start with the sides.  Once removed, then take down your blinds or shade, then take off the top.
TIP: see that gold bar on the edge....gross, plastic.  I just pulled it off and left it without.  just a little more creative stapling underneath!  See the finished project below.

The first one I did I actually took off the old material.  I used that as my pattern for the rest of the valences.  You DO NOT need to do this.  You can staple right over it.  (Unless your new material is very thin or very light in color).  Cut out all your patterns first, (so much easier to have it ready to go) and then just make an assembly line.

Unfortunately, I did not take pictures of the actual wrapping and stapling but it is pretty self explanatory.  If you look on a previous post about seat cushions, it is pretty much the same concept.  Pull and staple.  If you have stripes, make sure you line them up or it will be uneven and completely annoy you.
There is a little trick to the rehanging.  Once you have attached the new material, you wont be able to find the screw holes.  Run you finger along the edge and you will feel the indentation.  Then just hand screw it to make a hole in the new fabric.  Then just rehang!  Super simple.  We replaced the blinds as well as ours were gross.

Tada!  So much prettier.  Now for new bedding.....and new pillows made out of the same material!

Again!  Please leave a message with your results!
